Post Tips & Disclaimer For Buying And Selling On Topboss Racing. Please Read!!!

Unfortunately doing business online, always carries a risk. The more users frequenting the site, the greater the chance of possible deals going sour or scamsters trying their luck. The Topboss Racing Team ("The Team") does encourage the use of the buying/selling sections of the forum, but The Team cannot be held liable on any way. All purchases and sales on the Topboss Racing Site are made at the users own risk.

Now with that out the way, don't let it deter you from using the sections on the site. Honest users far outweigh those with less than good intentions. A liitle common sense can make the experience worth while.

Keep the following in mind when using the sections:

Buyers

  1. Every user registered on the site has a profile page. See how active the user is. If they have only joined recently and their first post is in the For Sale section, then beware! This does not imply all newly registered users who post For Sale adverts are scammers, but just tread carefully!
  2. Ask the seller questions about the item(s). How long does it take to get a response? Does the response answer the question?
  3. If the seller is close to you, ask them if you can come past and see the item(s). Don't trust just photo's for the item(s)
  4. When paying for the item(s), find out if you can pay a deposit first (i.e. 10% of the total value), with the rest when you collect the item(s). Rather work on a pay-when-collect basis. Keep in mind that sellers might require a deposit to ensure that you are a serious buyer.
  5. If you have made an offer to purchase, before you make any payments, try to obtain at least one contact number of the seller. Preferably a residential address as well.
  6. If you have made payments and the seller keeps giving you excuses or does not respond, do not hesitate. If the seller is then indeed a scammer, the quicker you report the matter the better chance you have of getting your money back.
  7. It's supprising how much you can learn from a person by just googling their username, email or even the product advertised. The chances are that if the seller is a scammer, he would have "advertised" the item on various sites.
  8. Remember the Golden Rule: If the deal is too good to be true, chances are it is.

These tips might seem obvious, but many a buyer has been caught by a fraudster because of their and even the sellers eagerness to "close the deal". By just following the simple tips we're not giving the buyer a guarantee that the transaction will be flawless, but it will help some in preventing fraud. Keep in mind that transacting online will always be risky, but employing some common sense and being aware greatly reduces the risk.

Sellers

  1. Post as much information as you can about the item. Item condition, location, colours, etc. but don't forget to add the price.
  2. Include images/photos of the item(s) you are selling. Try to ensure the image/photo is clear and not fuzzy or blurred. Please do not use images/photos taken of other sites (i.e. product images/photos), but rather your own. This gives the potential buyer a better look at the item(s).
  3. List any faults that the item(s) may have. Hiding them will only come back to haunt you. Be honest about the item(s), if you are selling the item(s) due to a scratch on it, tell the potential buyer about it.
  4. Say whether the item(s) can be posted or has to be collected. Does the price include postage if it has to be posted? If not, how much will postage be?
  5. Never post information like engine, serial or ID numbers. Contact numbers and email addresses should rather be sent using the PM (Private Message) function on the forum.

Although the Topboss Racing Team tries to keep fraudsters out, it is a near impossible task. Users are encouraged to report any suspicious posts and activities to the Forum Moderators/Administrator via PM or the Report Post button.

Remember to just post a feedback comment in the forum as a courtesy, whether as a seller or a buyer, so that other users can get feedback on sellers and buyers.
